Coyote Puppy Soft Mount by Nakomii Coyote Puppy Soft Mount by Nakomii
An ADORABLE little coyote puppy made for *Winterfaux :)

This coyote was sold to her while it was in my hands, so its hers now. xD This is one commission that took forever because the eyes never came in! When they did, they were slit pupil, gosh was i SO mad. So, i ordered more, and they got here. :) This is my first baby animal that i worked on.

Hand made this boys form, figured altering a grey fox would be useless. xD

Hes SO soft and really cute, gonna be hard to let him go!

Wow! This is one of the best taxidermy pieces I've ever seen! I love the eyes! You are an amazing taxidermy maker and you should be very proud of this little guy!

taxidermiests do not kill the animal, they either find a preserved already dead animal or one that just dies in a zoo, they mostly never kill this animal on purpose

No, not killed for taxidermy :) died from hunters usually who would trash the skin but we save it. And make them alive again in a way. :)

Wait, I thought hunters didn't kill pups?

They don't usually, since they like to keep generations going and healthy. But sometimes they end up in traps, and sometimes hunters mistake adolescent animals for adults because they can look very similar when their adult fur grows in.

Okay, I see. I don't agree with hunting, since I think it's ineffective (deer hunting, anyway) and it seems like the animals are just treated as things that should be controlled, but thanks for clearing that up!

There are many many people who use deer hunting as a resource for healthy, plentiful food sources. So I am happy to support that. We have been doing it for as long as humans have existed, and only now has there been any real opposition to it.

I love it. But it is quite sad that animals have to die in order for stuff like this to be made D: Well, good job on it though! :)

No I didnt shoot it.
You can research taxidermy online but its a couple hundred (maybe $400) to get started correctly.

I think it is a beautiful idea of creating something beautiful out of death, but I would hate to have a soft mount that was bred / lived in horrible way for being killed one day to become someones pretty accessory in home. You seem like a person who would not want to work on that kinda case either since by looking at your work and your dedication I can see the love you have for these animals.

Can you give me any tips or can you say for sure that for example the foxes that you get are not bred in bad circumstances in captivity and then killed painfully? I am dying to get one of beautifully made soft mounts, but I am also terrified that I would support any type of animal cruelty or activity that I do not feel good with.
Also I would like to ask if you can do a commission to Finland? :>

I just wanted to cut in, that he is so adorable! I am a hunter myself (I would never ever ever shoot a poor puppy) and that when we mount the animals, we always eat the meat. Unless, however, it is something like a coyote. Their meat is horrid, all dog's meat stinks actually. So when we can't eat it, we return it to the wild. :D

The pelt came secondhand (well more like fourthhand) to a customer. :) although I'm sure the original source was Taxidermy.net, they sell quite a few in the spring!!
