Angel the Amber Platinum Fox by Nakomii Angel the Amber Platinum Fox by Nakomii
Well this is my new girl, Angel! <3 Shes an Amber Platinum fox with a huge white collar and beautiful colors. <3
She already had this name, and kept it. (I dont like changing names of pelts once they have an existing name xD)

I got this girl from ~DigitalSero and I love her to pieces!

Just from seeing her and holding her a bit, oh my gosh. She is SO soft. Shes softer than Roman, my other ranched fox. XD So far shes the softest fox ive ever laid my hands on.

Shes also this beautiful pale amber brown color, with those little purpleish hues. <3
Shes the first fox ive had that isnt like. RED. LOL!

She was a bit of an impulse buy, but I couldnt pass up a rare pelt i havnt seen before.

So this is her!

I'm not one who's very good with pelts and telling if it's good for taxidermy. But those colors on a mount would look stunning. You are very lucky.

I have to say thats one of the prettiest fox pelts I've ever seen. I've always wanted to get one, but I don't know how to get one that I can be certain of didn't come from a fur farm or was mistreated in life.

And if you want a pelt that isnt from a farm, look for wild red foxes, grey foxes, kit and arctic. :) Red foxes come in 3 colors though. Red, Cross and Silver.
And fur farm animals are not mistreated. They need to be very well taken care of, and they absolutely need to be happy. If they arnt happy, they wont produce good fur. :)

They die naturally, they aren't killed purely for their pelt.

Yes, im proud to have the heart to give them a new home instead of letting them rot. Proud to be open minded enough to realize that everyone has their own beleif..
And she wasnt. She was taken care of. Well fed and kept very clean. When she did die, she didnt feel a thing.
If you dont like it, you dont have to say anything..

Sorry if I was irritable, but things like this get to me ESPECIALLY furs because you never know what new torture they've made to get the fur. As long she died a good and natural death and wasn't imprisoned or anything than, really yeah I'm, sorry.
It is my belief that every animal lives it's life. IT then dies and it's body is given to the earth and it's animals. IF you take her fur and keep it because it's pretty, then yeah that's good.
I just got very mad very quickly because I hate seeing dead animals killed for nothing but their beauty or ferociousness. I'm very glad you are not one such person, though I do wonder why I trust someone over the internet. I hope you can forgive me; I do keep an open mind, most of the time, but these are particularly sensitive subjects.

Ranched foxes like her dont go through ANY mistreatment or torture.
If you mistreat an animal, they wont be happy. And if theyre not happy, they wont produce good fur. Those foxes are well fed, clean and very well taken care of.
She died quick and painlessly, probably euthanized, as thats the most common. They just pass out really, and hardly notice.
I agree with you on some parts there. But which is better for her? Hanging around some old wonans neck as some..fancy show fur, or being with me where she will be taken care of and respected? I think the latter..
But like i said, dont worry about it. I used to be like that too, but now im the collector. :D

I'm very relieved. I know what euthanization is and, though I don't like it, I am glad of it.
Really? I actually have to say I'm kinda surprised. Nothing personal, but I never thought people who keep fur cared about animals. Yet another stereotype struck down, huh? xD

Yes, it helps to educate others. :D
And that is a very common sterotype we get here, its almost every other day that yoi hear people yelling about how we hate animals. When in truth, we love them. And all of my friends who are collectors or taxidermists, they make sure they get animals who lived a long, healthy life, and/or were killed quick and painlessly. And we all know for a fact (as much as the haters disagree) that hunting follows the same guidelines. Long, healthy lives, and theyre killed with a painless bullet. Which, in turn, is much better than starving to death, becausethats what would happen if hunters werent around. There would be massive overpopulation of either prey or predator and one of the two would end up suffering of starvation.
And I, along with a few others, are very big on animals. I own a few and ive been working for a no-kill animal sanctuary all my life. :) sometimes i swear i havnt met a group who cared about their hobby and environment as much as us. Goes to show, you can never judge a book by its cover...;)

What does it all matter to you? Are you a vegan? If not, you eat animals and use products made from animals/tested on animals every day that were killed much less humanely than this fox- who was most likely killed humanely and quickly. Death happens every day and at least she is being preserved beautifully instead of being thrown away.

It matters to me because I love animals and animals are basically my life. I am actually glad I'm not a vegan, though the horrid deaths the food provided dies is truly cruel, because I believe in the Circle of Life. Death does happen every day and I am fully aware. I'm not cooped up in my room all day, you know.
However, I believe that prey eat plants, predators eat prey and, when the predator dies, the plants eat the predator. Eventually, every part of the plant or animal is used and is reclaimed by the earth. When an animal is killed purely for its pelt, however, and the rest left for none it's highly offense, at least to me.
I had no idea what the full story was, and I never thought Angel had a full story, so I had assumed the worst. Forgive me for assuming this fox was killed and sold like most other pelts as I had no idea her story. Usually I wouldn't stick my nose into such things and normally I wouldn't say things that I knew would lead to a fight, but this is a very sensitive subject to me and I can be rash in the face of things like this (or what this looks like).

There is something we can relate to- I love animals as well, and animals are my life also. Two dogs, two cats, and three rabbits take up a lot of time and money. :P But I also have pelts, skulls, and the like. About 1/3 of them were second hand, 1/3 of them from hunters (most, if not all of my Uncles are hunters), and 1/3 from my cats/myself (the cats would torture the mice/vole/etc and then leave them to suffer and I would have to finish them off- a hard thing to do for sure).

(Haha, I am glad to not be vegan either. I tried being vegetarian and was completely horrible at it. Lasted about a week.)

But see, the whole plants eat predators- they don't eat the fur. And not always the skin (there is a deer on the side of the road that is literally dried skin and bones). So why not save that? The rest of the meat and flesh that is not edible usually goes to the Earth. Who's to say they did not bury the rest of the fox? (I don't know myself, but it's the most likely.)

I dunno, I know that when my cats kill something, I skin it, keep the head for the skull, and give the rest back to the plants or whatever. If it was something bigger, I'd save most, if not all of the bones. I'm definitely all for preserving as much of the animal as possible, and that's just the way I like it. Everyone has their own view of that kind of thing C:

I really appreciate your answer though, by the way. You're not like all the fur hating spazzes I tend to see. xD" You should just be careful and probably not say anything about things you dislike. I used to be really "Animal Rights!" and got all weird about fur and such, but I just avoided it and kept my thoughts to myself c;

Just, remember, not all furs come from bad places so it's not always nice to assume the worst. And though they may seem like the worst to you, it is not always the worst to someone else. Like, my coyote and cross fox for example- both came from hunters who hunt for Population control. Without population control, there is a higher chance of diseases and starvation, plus they tend to stray further into the more urban areas and then get hit by cars- which can be a very painful and slow death. Hunters actually are way more aware of animal populations and usually love animals just as much as myself.

And all of my three ranch foxes (foxes bred for their fur) were bought second hand from someone who got them away from the fur clothing industry- so they could be preserved as a whole instead of being turned into fashion clothes. I definitely appreciate pelts, furs, mounts and the like because I get to preserve the beauty of the animal despite it's death.

I am so glad you think that. That's just was I was saying as well; I mean as long as the rest of it's being put to good use and the death was at least sensible and human, sure.
I do most of the time keep my thoughts to myself, just on the subjects as these, they get under my skin (relatively speaking ha!) and the whole 'ANIMALS RIGHTS NAZI' gets involved. I know it's bad to assume the worst, but it can be pretty hard not to.

I never really liked those to preserve it's beauty (personally it creeps me out. D:) and pictures or drawings I love to immortalize a creature, but every person is their own, right? No creature lives forever.

I'm sorry, Im not telling you what to do, I'm just politely asking you not to kill animals for their pelts, and it doesn't mean you're gonna do it. You have some great artwork, and yes the pelts are beautiful, but I'd rather see it on the animal than off. I won't assume right away that those animals were brutally killed for their skin, maybe they died of natural causes and you're just recreating their presence so that they can live on. But what if that animal did have to die just for that purpose? Would you want to die so someone could keep your skin?

The way you said it was pretty commanding..
And i agree. Id much rather see a fox alive any day. Im not saying i dont.
They were in no way brutally murdered. They lived healthy, cruelty-free lives. They were well taken care of, and when they do die, its painless and quick.
This fox did not die to be given to me just to hang on my wall.

Some are killed because they are just plain aggressive and can't breed anymore. Such as the ones breeding for pets. If there's one thats aggressive and you can't touch them, that's not a trait you want to pass on. Not only that but you can't do anything with them.
